Our bread: The Coffee Kitchen Bakery

Bread has become increasingly important to us – real bread with nothing added.  It tastes great and is better for you than bread made in the modern way.  Since opening the bakery in 2015, Andy and Angela Walsh have been stocking the local eateries with their amazing bread.  Fresh bread, without any additives and made with locally milled flour.  Really excited to be serving their Malted Brown Bloomer and White Farmhouse Bloomer at Maple Bank for our guests.

Our breakfast sausages, bacon, haggis and black pudding are provided by Thomasons in Keswick.  A traditional yet modern family butchers and delicatessen in the beautiful Lake District market town of Keswick.  The Cumberland sausages are made on site by the Thomasons team and I have selected a UK-based cured bacon from Devon.  And very much enjoyed all the taste-testings, thanks guys!

Jeremy and Tricia Jackson have been making traditional farmhouse butter for over 6 years at Winter Tarn, Moreland, Cumbria.  Ed Snowboots 3 – the family logo – was Jeremy’s first supreme champion of his own breeding in 2002.

The butter is made with free-range cream and delivered direct from the farm and is simply fantastic!  Just want you want on your toast every day.  Read more about them at @wintertarn

The family have been farming at Embleton for more than three generations, providing eggs to local businesses for more than thirty years.  And it’s these lovely fresh eggs that make our poached, scrambled or fried eggs so very tasty.

The hens are free range during the day and are herded back into their homes at night by Badger - the family Collie – it’s truly a sight to behold!

Scales Farm deliver fresh eggs to Maple Bank every week.

Braithwaite Farm

The Clarke family have lived at Braithwaite for over 30 years, producing dairy products for the local residents and businesses, and deliver milk and yoghurts to Maple Bank three times a week – absolute luxury!

This black tea is ethically and sustainably sourced exclusively from Kenya and Malawi, stable countries both from a political and climatic perspective.  This allows for tracking of the full process, from growing of the tea in the plantations through to transportation and delivery to the UK.  Sourcing from countries with a stable climate ensures that the tea maintains the same great taste, batch after batch.

We offer a range of fruit and herbal teas from teapigs which guests can help themselves to during their stay, as well as the traditional brew served at breakfast.

We have Lemon and Ginger, Peppermint, Superfuit, Chamomile, Earl Grey Stong, Mao Feng Green Tea, and my personal favourite: Liquorice and Peppermint.

Wild and Fruitful Honey  If, like us, you're a lover of honey, then you'll be delighted to know that we buy our honey from a local producer: Wild & Fruitful.  A beautiful golden honey produced from hives at their home on The Lingholm Estate on the shores of Derwent Water, and other local hives in the Borrowdale, Newlands and Lorton Valleys in the Northern Lake District.  It's a golden single source honey, not to be confused with blended and imported honeys found in supermarkets.  Nothing but the goodness of nature from hives all within a 10 mile radius in the Northern Lakes. Carefully sieved by hand during filling.

Old Friars of Keswick

What a heavenly place for any chocolate lover!  We buy our mint creams for our guests here and of course, any other requirements such as Easter Eggs and Christmas Santa's.  The truffles are so gorgeous too.  You can't really enter here and not come out with something divine!
