Maple Bank - a top class Guest House Kevin H - April 2025, Tripadvisor
Having undertaken a number of walking holidays around the UK when I have stayed in many B&B's I rate Maple Bank as one of the very best. The owners were very welcoming and knowledgeable about the area, The rooms are clean and very comfortable and the breakfast range and quality excellent. There were also some little extra touches such as a substantial portion of freshly baked cake each day and a variety of snacks. Overall I can't praise this property enough
Fantastic Experience Jenny M - April 2025, Tripadvisor
We had a super time staying at Maplebank, thank you so much Kate for your warm welcome and to you and your team for what you've created. The breakfast was superb and made with high quality locally produced ingredients and cooked perfectly. The room was spacious, comfortable and cosy. The surrounding area is beautiful and I particularly enjoyed watching the sun rise over the mountains each morning.
Another great trip 5* anemone89 - Feb 2025, Tripadvisor
Another excellent stay, warm room and very comfy bed. As before a delicious breakfast with lots of choices, great coffee and this time we enjoyed having one of Kates pre ordered evening meals which was very tasty and filling. After old days on the hill it’s a treat to come ‘home’ to home made cake. 5*****
Maple Bank ... Just the best Scott - Feb 2025, Tripadvisor
We stayed as a family of 14 at Maple Bank, everything was great, but what made it excellent was the host Katie, who went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed, nothing was too much trouble.
Decor and rooms are beautiful, spotless, comfortable and have a great selection of pillows.
Breakfast was fantastic, everything provided was top quality and locally sourced.
A great stay for all of us, and exceptional value.
Thanks very much, we will return.

Great guest house. Everything you could want is provided even homemade cake which is lovely and can be taken on walks out on the fells. Breakfast is delicious, beds are comfy, location ideal for the fells and local pubs and restaurants. Will be coming back! Thank you.
A wonderful place to stay! gordonmG205JK - Sept 2024, Tripadvisor
What a wonderful guest house, friendly, comfortable, cosy!  Easy to get to, my room was at the back and there was absolutely no noise whatsoever. The welcome was extremely friendly from Kate, I was made to feel very much at home. The breakfast is incredible, such excellent quality produce and very generous portions.  Every guest I spoke with, seemed to share exactly the same view, this is an absolute gem of a guest house. The biggest drawback is it was fully booked every night I stayed. This might have been my first stay, but it certainly won’t be my last!
Top notch! Janet - Sept 2024, Tripadvisor
My husband and I just spent three nights at this wonderful guest house. Really, we loved verything about it. We had an extremely warm welcome with a detailed explanation of how everything works. Our room was spotless with a beautiful view, comfortable bed, exquisite toiletries and a well stocked tray including chocolate biscuits. If you wanted fresh milk it was always available from a fridge in the dining room and the owners even provide small flasks to keep it cool in your room. Guests are welcome to use the fridge to chill their own bottle of wine. Everything we ate at breakfast was beautifully prepared and cooked. Every day there is some sort of yummy cake left out in the dining room for guests to help themselves to. On one evening we ordered the fish platter to eat in the dining room and it was gorgeous! In fact it was my favourite dinner of the three nights we were away. We would love to return one day. Thank you for our wonderful short break.
Love it here. Juliahuliagulia - Aug 2024, Tripadvisor

5* stunning country guest house with spectacular views in an amazing location Lauriecain - Jul 2024, Tripadvisor
We spent Thursday-Sun at Mabel Bank with our dog in July. We could not have been happier with our stay.  The house is stunning and the views are amazing. The garden is pristine with beautiful scenery around it.  Our room was spotless with everything we could need for ourselves and our dog. The breakfast is included with the stay and you order the night before. We had some delicious choices and tried the cooked breakfasts as well as eggs royale/eggs benedict. Everything was hot and fresh.  There are also fresh baked goods each afternoon which are homemade and so tasty. This is a great afternoon snack after a long day walking.  The staff are so friendly and helpful.  The location is fantastic with lovely pubs just 5-15 minutes walk away. We tried all of the recommended spots.  We also went into Keswick town centre, went on the steam train and a self drive motor boat.  Our stay was overall fantastic.  We could not recommend Maple Bank anymore if we tried!! We already cannot wait to return. You are able to treat it like a home away from home. Thank you so much for our amazing stay. We would 100% recommend to anyone wanting to book. Every single detail is taken care of and you do not have to worry about anything when you are there. Overall superb!!!! Lots of love Laurie, Alex and Olly xxx
5 star B&B in 5 Star location Rob J - Jun 2024, Tripadvisor
We have stayed at Maple Bank 3 times now and each stay is fantastic. Our current stay in 2024 was for 6 nights.  The attention to detail and flexibility shown by Kate and her team is truly remarkable.  Dog friendly, cake treats in the afternoon, local advice and tips, beautiful garden, locally made bathroom toiletries and a wonderful breakfast are just some of the reasons why we stay here.
The best guest house we've ever stayed in by far Jocelyn j - Feb 2024, Tripadvisor
Really can’t fault it in any way. From the minute we arrived to the time we left. They can’t do enough for you to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable. They certainly achieved this, the staff friendly and informative, the breakfast 10/10, along with the daily home baked cakes truly scrumptious, much needed after a long walk. Our room was beautiful with an added bonus of luxury toiletries made it more special, lovely comfy beds. Thank you to Kate and her amazing team, we’ll be back along with friends and family after seeing all my pictures from here. Loved it

Fabulous B&B in a beautiful location Wendy - Warrington Feb 2024, Tripadvisor
Had a fabulous 2 night stay here in the Lake District. What a little gem this place is. Kate is such a friendly person and the breakfast is a delight. Nothing is too much trouble and you can tell that she genuinely cares about her guests. The room was immaculately clean, the bathroom in particular was one of the best kept bathrooms I have ever seen! Kate adds lots of lovely little touches to make your stay special. The bed was comfy and although we had a room at the front, fairly close to the main road, the noise was never an issue. Breakfast was full English with a choice of fried bread or French toast and there was ‘normal’ toast as well! I liked that you could pre order exactly what you wanted and there was also fruit or porridge should you want that too. Whilst we don’t have a dog, dogs are also made very welcome! Would definitely recommend and hope to return ourselves in future. Thank you Kate & Ann.
JUST GO you won't be disappointed. Scook - Feb 2024, Tripadvisor
Had an amazing stay here which we really couldn't fault. The place is spotlessly clean, the beds are really comfy, the toiletries provided are lovely and plentiful. The breakfast had a great selection that you ordered the evening before, along with the usual, toasts, cereals, yogurts etc available to help yourself. Overall a quality breakfast.
Delicious food, dog friendly and warm Uklady200 - Jan 2024, Tripadvisor
Fabulous B&B, very dog friendly with a huge enclosed garden. Delicious locally sourced food at breakfast and Kate is a knowledgeable and friendly host. 3 pubs within a mile all dog friendly and serving food on an evening and loads of walking from Braithwaite village.
Gem of a find Barney1 - Nov 2023, Tripadvisor
Excellent stay in this wonderful location . The Maple Bank exceeded all of our expectations. Immaculate clean rooms both comfortable and warm much appreciated with the weather .
Breakfast plentiful with a good selection available we opted for the full English and it certainly didn’t disappoint. Kate and staff all very welcoming and on hand to offer advice on getting around etc .
A really nice couple of days spent relaxing here I can’t recommend it highly enough and we will definitely be returning.
Stunning guest house JulieH830 - October 2023, Tripadvisor
Quiet room, comfy bed with dark curtains meaning we slept really well. Breakfast was the best we have had, good quality ingredients and well cooked. The extras were amazing like real milk, smelly toiletries and the cake, oh my the fresh cakes were yummy. Parking was good, position was good being 1 second off the A66 and only 2 mins drive from Keswick and what a view from the front! The welcome from Kate was the best bit and we can't thank you enough for making us feel so relaxed. Very much recommended!
Wonderful 3 night stay at Maple Bank. kathleena1778 - July 2023, Tripadvisor
The attention to detail at this wonderful place is spot on!  The rooms are spotless and thoughtfully equipped with everything.  Breakfast in the sunny dining room is a treat.  Wonderful addition is the home made cakes ready at 5 every day to enjoy with a cup of tea.  Kate is a wonderful hostess who truly cares about her guests, she has a great knowledge of Keswick and the surrounding areas. Her team working behind the scenes do a great job too.  Would definitely recommend Maple Bank to our family and friends.
As good as ever! 11DavidE - April 2023, Tripadvisor
This is probably our 8th or 9th stay at Maple Bank and we have yet to find a single negative thing to comment on in all our visits. Well done and Thanks to Kate and the team.  As usual, room immaculate (Room 6) even sporting a brand new bed !! Breakfasts as good as ever and as always, great cakes and treats each afternoon.  Excellent walking available without having to drive. Just ask Kate for recommendations.
Birthday Weekend Surprise colinglasper - Jan 2023, Tripadvisor
Great place to stay, Kate the owner made us feel very welcome on arrival and gave us loads of local knowledge. Cannot fault the accommodation, breakfasts were amazing, best ever poached eggs, the choice excellent. Will definitely stay again we were recommended the Maple Bank by friends who have stayed on numerous occasions and we found it great place to stay.
Simply exceptional. drsomil3 - Nov 2022, Tripadvisor
We had a really amazing time at Maple Bank. The breakfast was excellent and well organised. The afternoon cakes made the trip even better . Kate was really kind and organised for us to have takeaway at the guest house dining room ,on a busy weekend when we couldn’t get into any pub! Also her recommendation of local places to visit and eat out was really very helpful.  Cozy rooms and very clean. Less than 10 mins drive from Keswick town centre and good base to travel to some of the other attractions as well. Easy parking on site.  Surely would love to visit again soon and recommend to our friends .
Best B&B ever (29 years experience)! robj296 - June 2022, Tripvisor
We stayed for 5 nights and there is nothing we could fault with Maple Bank! Quite possibly the best B&B we’ve stayed in.  Kate & Ann have put so much thought into everything they do.  Fresh flowers and a fresh slice of cake everyday are just an example of some of the extra thought they have put in.  Great breakfast choices meant we had something different everyday, table laid for us in the evening for our takeaways, books and walking guides galore to borrow and Marmite!  Great big, safe enclosed garden for our dog to go to in the morning, noon and night.  Another great touch are the ‘Lakeland’ bathroom toiletries. Shampoo, conditioner, hand soap, of course, but to include foot and hand cream too is a bonus.  We highly recommend you to stay here. In fact, if we could transport Maple Bank to all other places we stay in, we will be guaranteed a great stay.
Fabulous dog-friendly guest house near Keswick. chrispyes - Feb 2022, Tripadvisor
After spending 7 nights at Maple Bank we can confidently say that this is our best ever guest house experience. The attention to detail is second to none. The house is large, clean and warm. Dogs are very welcome and are allowed in bedrooms. They receive a welcome-pack on arrival and a sausage each morning! There are towels at the front door for muddy paws, a dog-tag available with local address details on it and a secure garden. There is a choice of cooked breakfast as well as fruit salad, porridge, muesli and cereal. Kate advises with knowledge about suitable walks and about places to eat and drink. Very helpfully there are laminated walks available to borrow. The location just outside Keswick is great with lovely views towards Skiddaw. If you want, there is a bus stop within a couple of minutes walk to get to Keswick and back without the need to drive and dogs travel free. All in all there is nothing we didn't like and we very much hope to return. I nearly forgot to mention the cakes baked daily for guests to help thselves to after a day's activities! Delicious and very thoughtful!
